About this tool
PNG uses lossless pixel coding, but browser canvas re-encoding does not apply palette optimization or the specialized filters used by dedicated PNG optimizers. A PNG saved back to PNG may stay the same size or grow; the quality slider does not change PNG output.
For many images, WebP can be much smaller while retaining transparency. With quality below 100 the WebP output is lossy, so inspect text, logos and sharp edges before using it.
